Seasonal Menu Options: Autumn

There are two seasons when fresh fruits and vegetables

At Richfield Regency, we pride ourselves on our extensive menu options, that are both Kosher and non-Kosher.  We work to develop the best choices that cater to both a client’s event needs and the ingredient options that are available for each season- bringing fresh new menu items that will please all event guests!  Fall is one of our favorite times of the year because of all the amazing ingredients that become locally available.

Some of the best autumn season flavors to add to your menus are:

Pears: Apples are always a wonderful choice to add to a fall menu, but to be a bit unique, choose pear flavorings!  Thinly sliced pears and walnuts will add a burst of fall flavor to your standard salad.  For dessert, a pear and ginger crisp topped with an enhanced spiced whipped cream will be sure to please any discerning palette.  If you’re looking for something a bit more traditional, poached pears will offer the slightest sweet flavor can be enhanced a drizzle of vanilla cream.

Pumpkin: When pumpkin flavors come around, then you know that you are well into the wonderful autumn season.  Pumpkin soup is a delicious seasonal menu choice that is light, yet full of flavor!  Serve as a first course warm or chilled!  Individual pumpkin soufflé’s offer a great twist on traditional pumpkin desserts (as much as we love pumpkin pie, it’s so overdone in the fall season!), offering the perfect balance and sweetness and spice.  Add a scoop of cinnamon vanilla ice cream for a real dessert treat!

Chestnuts: Roasted chestnut flavor is a sign of fall and the holiday season!  Chestnuts offer a rich, hearty flavor to meat dishes like braised chicken or pork chops.   with chestnut.  Offering a refreshing twist on dessert, chocolate chestnut pudding is a sweet sensation that offers rich flavor.  Garnish with roasted chestnuts and a spice syrup to fill up on the flavors of fall!

BOOtiful Halloween Party Ideas for 2010

Looking to hold the ultimate Halloween bash?  The most important thing to do when planning your Halloween party is, stick to a theme!  We’ve heard horrifying tales of parties that went awry because they tried to stick too many Halloween themes together:  think Dracula’s castle meets a witches lair meets house of horrors!

We know that a Halloween party can be overwhelming- with so many themes to choose from it’s always hard to pick just one! To help you out, here are a few of our top 2010 Halloween party themes!

Haunted Graveyard:  Set the mood for Halloween with a haunted graveyard party theme!  A popup wrought-iron gate (make sure it’s squeaky!) will serve as the perfect entrance to your party and a light layer of fog on the group will be sure to spook out your guests!  Table can be decorated with foam headstones and black roses.  Lighting should be kept to a minimal to add to the spooky atmosphere and wait staff can dress as zombies or ghouls to add to the theme.

Haunted Mansion:  For a party that is full of elegance and horror, a haunted mansion theme is the perfect choice!  Décor should be elegant and upscale- gold silverware, beautiful candle holders and elegant floral arrangements.  For spooky decor surprises use faux cobwebs, flickering lights, skeletal statues and eerie portraits to scare up your guests.  Add in special surprises like secret passageways and hanging ghosts to add the perfect haunted elements to your mansion party!

Monster Mash:  This is one of those times when it’s ok to merge different monster themes!  Pick famous monsters (Swamp Thing, Dracula, Frankenstein, etc) and set-up each table in the room to reflect that specific monster.  For instance, the “Dracula” table would be draped in a black table cloth, a centerpiece of red roses, it’s table number displayed on a wooden stake and have include other goodies like fake vampire teeth and garlic.

Don’t get frightened when you’re planning your Halloween party, let Richfield Regency handle the event details while you boogie down until midnight, and beyond!

Keeping Summer Alive with Themed Parties this Fall

None of us, especially those of us in the northeast, ever really like saying goodbye to summer but it’s something that we just have to do.  As the summer days get cooler and the leaves begin to change color, we are reminded of the impending fall season.  But, just because it is fall doesn’t mean that summer has to be over!  A luau themed party will keep the season alive and gives your party a unique theme!

Planning your very own luau themed party is as easy as one, two, three…four!

One:  Decoration should, of course, be island-inspired!  Keep you table cloths to tropical colors such as lime greens, ocean blues, oranges and yellows and accent tables with mini tiki torches.  Tropical flowers like hibiscus and orchids will make beautiful centerpieces, while keeping the island inspiration alive.

Two: Choose your DJ wisely- Tropical Island beats are an essential, but should also be mixed with current popular music.  If they bring their own hula skirts, then you’ll really be in for a treat!
Three: The menu options should be inspired from the islands.  Try coconut crusted shrimp, macadamia crusted chicken, ham and pineapple skewers and glazed short ribs.  Drinks should be tropical infusions like Mai Tais and Pina Coladas.
Four:  Ask guests to dress island friendly with bright colors and floral prints.  Leis are also an essential wardrobe addition for all guests, so make sure you provide these at the door.  Fresh flowers are a nice touch but for a more wallet-friendly option choose simple cloth or plastic leis.

Looking for the perfect inside venue to host your luau party?  Richfield Regency is the perfect place to dance to the beats of island drums!  Our talented event planners can take all the guess work out of planning your island event- so you can focus on your guests and, more importantly, having a blast!

Event Spotlight: September

In September we hosted many great events, but one that stuck out in our minds the most was the wedding of Gloria and Bob Hladek.  The wedding went from daylight to nighttime in the span of the reception.  In the beginning we let the summer sun shine on into our reception room, creating a bright and airy feel.  When the sun started to set, we created soft mood lighting in the reception space with dim chandeliers and small votive candles that illuminated tables with a soft glow.  The bride wore white and kept we kept the event space crisp, clean and elegant with white table linens and floral arrangements.

It was an intimate gathering of close family and friends that turned into a dance party that left the bride and groom, well, just look at the photo and you can see for yourself!
